Apex buying WHHL-FM

apex broadcastingApex Broadcasting of Charleston, SC has agreed to buy WHHL-FM 104.9 in the Hilton Head Island area for $682,500. The seller is Low Country Radio LLC, The (Charleston) Post & Courier reports.


Apex also is acquiring the rights to sell airtime on and otherwise operate WHHL under a separate agreement.

Oldies WHHL is dubbed “The Surf.”

The CEO of Hilton Head-based Low Country Radio is former Charleston radio personality C.J. Jones.

Apex Broadcasting is owned by Dean Pearce. It operates five local FM stations: Kickin’ 92.5; Mix 95.9; 99.3 The Box; Star 99.7; and 101.7 Chuck FM. Apex also has several stations in the Florida panhandle serving the Destin and Fort Walton Beach markets.
