Jonathan Krause, part of the morning team at Cumulus Media’s WOSH-AM 1490 in the Appleton-Oshkosh Arbitron market has announced a run for the Wisconsin State Assembly. He’ll be trying to take on incumbent Gordon Hintz (D).

Krause, who shares a 6AM-9AM shift called “Morning News Focus” with Bob Burnell, will be running as a Republican in Wisconsin’s 54th District. According to thenorthwestern.com, Krause has already filed paperwork and lists himself as his campaign treasurer.

He is part of the contingent of local talent at the News-Talker, which also brings in a great deal of its programming from network and syndication ranks. Among its stable of talent are Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Dennis Miller, among many others.

The seat has been held by Republicans in the recent past, but Hintz won it in 2006. His resume includes stints working for one former senator, the late Paul Wellstone (D-MN) and one current one, Herb Kohl (D-WI).

RBR-TVBR observation: Cumulus will be better able to deal with a political sabbatical than many. Krause will of course have to exit his air shift to avoid making Cumulus liable for a like kind contribution, but at least he’s leaving a shift partner there to carry on. Cumulus can decide if it wants to bring in a temp to assist Bob Burnell, or let Burnell soldier on solo for the time being.
