The station trading market may be stultified, but you have to hand it to Radio Disney. It let word out that it was going to sell off a number of its AM stations, and it has marched steadily forward doing just that. The latest is WDZK-AM Bloomfield CT, serving the Hartford market.

The buyer is Blount Communications, headed by William Blount. According to brokers Bill Schutz, who represented Blount; and John Pierce, who represented Radio Disney, the price is $500K. The station operates in 1550 kHz.

News of this sale broke in a very unusual way – it was mentioned in the contract for the sale of WNEB-AM Worcester MA from Blount to Emmanuel Communications, also a $500K deal. According to the WNEB contract, Blount and Emmanuel will try to work together to execute the pair of deals as a like-kind exchange.
Pierce also handled brokerage chores for the WNEB deal.
