An independently owned NBC affiliate at the forefront of the next gen broadcast TV standard known as ATSC 3.0 has selected its next VP/GM.
This individual is trading America’s Finest City for the Triangle region of North Carolina, and takes on his new role July 16.
Inbound at Capitol Broadcasting Company‘s WRAL-5 and FOX affiliate WRAZ-50 in Raleigh-Durham is Joel Davis.
He was formerly VP/GM of The E.W. Scripps Co.-owned ABC affiliate in San Diego, KGTV-10.
Davis spent nine years at KGTV, rising from News Director to GM.
In Raleigh, he succeeds the retiring Steven D. Hammel.

Davis began his broadcasting career as a reporter and news anchor at stations in Iowa and Ohio. He served as news director at KBAK-TV in Bakersfield and KFSN-TV in Fresno before being named managing editor at WFTV-TV in Orlando. Davis joined KGTV as news director in 2009 and was promoted to station manager before ascending to VP/GM.
