Auction process needs overhaul, not a bandaid

One broadcaster thinks the MMTC proposals for revamped auctions, detailed here, don’t go far enough.

Bandaids! That’s all this is. The underlying problem is in the auction system itself.  It is a gamed process that should be scrapped. The auction process is not about diversity, more voices, or opening the doors for new entrants, minorities, and females. It’s about making budget for the FCC and the federal government. The bandaids only perpetuate the problem. All this represents is a rearrangement of the deck chairs on the Titanic. Stop the auctions, go back to comparative hearings, give pioneer preference points to the people to do the work and find the allocations. Bring back minority tax certificates.
