Back door compensation for Back Woods Communications

0

A CP for a north Florida FM station is going from Back Woods Communications to Florida Educational Radio Inc. for one bill – as in the kind with an engraving of George Washington on it. However, if the station is resold, the seller will be entitled to a bigger payday.

The station is WWJJ-FM, licensed to Jasper FL, a town not far from the Georgia state line, and located both due west and due north of the snaking Suwannee River. It is in unrated territory.

The seller is headed by Paul Lewis. The BWC will take $1 for the station now, but should FER elect to resell it, BWC will get the lesser of 20% of the resale value or $10K. The contract stipulates that at no time ever will FER’s liability with BWC exceed $10K.

The station will be a Class A on 91.7 MHz with 200 W @ 81’.

FER is headed by Kyle E. Magrill, Joseph M. DiPietro and Nicolas T. Schroeder. Between them, they hold licenses for four FM translators. WWJJ will be their first full power facility.

They promise to air student-generated programming and provide internships for mass communications students at several area educational institutions.
