Bahakel TV purchase/LMA deal setting up Montgomery triple-play

0

Veteran broadcast group Bahakel Communications owns CBS WAKA in the Montgomery AL DMA. It now has a deal that will add the local CW affiliate to its portfolio and will establish an operating arrangement with the local ABC affiliate, both currently owned by Sagamore Hill Broadcasting.

Bahakel will be able to purchase the weaker CW affiliate, WBMM, outright. But local ownership caps will prevent it from acquiring the license of any other local television stations.

However, it plans to enter into a time sales agreement and shared services agreement with ABC WNCF. The services will include things like administrative and engineering operations.

Sagamore Hill will continue responsibility for WNCF’s programming and all of its dealings with the FCC.

The sale of WBMM will of course require FCC approval. Terms of the deal were not released.
