When Conan O’Brien kicks off his new late night talk show on TBS 11/8/10, he’ll be doing it without the services of long-time partner Max Weinberg, a relationship that lasted 17 years on NBC Network.
Weinberg is a member of Bruce Springstein’s E Street Band, and also plans to devote time to his own big band.
O’Brien stated, “Max has been a huge part of my life for the past 17 years and he is an incredible band leader and musician. I hope he can find time to stop by the show, sit in with the band and pretend to find my monologue funny.”
The show has decided to promote from within, elevating the band’s guitarist Jimmy Vivino to the leadership spot. That will necessitate a change in the name of the band, which has always included “Weinberg” in it. No new name has yet come to light.
