One of the more leisurely activities during the 2019 NAB Show in Las Vegas is the Philip J. Lombardo Charity Golf Tournament, in benefit of the Broadcasters Foundation of America. The annual event raises funds to help broadcast media colleagues in need and honors several leaders in the radio and TV industry.

This year’s tournament hit a fundraising record.

Some $100,000 was raised in support of the Broadcasters Foundation mission, the organization says of the Sunday event held at the Bali Hai Golf Club just prior to the NAB Show’s opening.

The golf tournament came ahead of the attendance of some 250 radio and TV broadcasters at the 24th annual leadership award breakfast on Wednesday morning. Awards were presented to six industry leaders who have made an impact on the broadcasting industry and in their local communities.

The Lowry Mays Award for Excellence in Broadcasting was presented to Shamrock Broadcasting President Bill Clark, a broadcast luminary who has made an impact on the industry through innovation, entrepreneurship, issue advocacy, community service, and philanthropy.
