BFA Honors Karmazin

Mel KarmazinWhen the Broadcasters Foundation of America gathers for breakfast at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, it will be thanking iconic broadcast executive Mel Karmazin for his service to the industry.


Karmazin will be awarded the Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award at the Wednesday 4/15/15 session. It starts at 7:00 AM local time.
The award, which honors not only the awardee but the award’s namesake, the founder of Clear Channel, Lowry Mays, and is underwritten by The Mays Family Foundation.

BFA stated, “Karmazin is involved in numerous philanthropic ventures and has served on a number of boards throughout his career. Currently, he is a Trustee at NYU Langone Medical Center, a Board member and Executive Committee member of Autism Speaks, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Paley Center for Media. He was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and has received the National Association of Broadcasters’ National Radio Award and the IRTS Gold Medal Award.”

Karmazin had stops at SiriusXM, CBS Corporation and CBS Radio, among others, during his long and illustrious broadcast career.
