Bidding battle narrows for Weather Channel

According to the Wall Street Journal, Time Warner and a partnership of NBC Universal and Blackstone Group are the leading bidders for the Weather Channel and its weather.com website. Second-round bids were said to have been due on Friday ahead of the holiday weekend. Landmark Communications had originally hoped to get $5 billion in the auction, but most reports say the 1st round bids were below $4 billion.
