Big debut for Alcatraz on Fox

Airing the 2-hour series premiere of ALCATRAZ, FOX won last night among Adults 18-34 and placed second among Adults 18-49.
                                                     
* ALCATRAZ (P): 3.3/8, up +38% from last year’s mid-season Chicago Code debut among Adults 18-49 and is FOX’s highest-rated drama debut in three years (since Lie to Me on 1/21/09)
o Despite having no lead-in, ALCATRAZ tied as this season’s second-highest rated new drama (behind Once Upon a Time and tied with Revenge – both 9pm premieres) and is the #2 new drama outright in the Adults 18-34 demo
o With 10 million Total Viewers, ALCATRAZ is FOX’s highest rated drama debut in two years in Total Viewers (since Human Target on 1/17/10)
o In head-to-head competition, ALCATRAZ outperformed ABC’s The Bachelor by +38% in Adults 18-49 (3.3/8 vs. 2.4/6) and +35% in Total Viewers (10.0 vs. 7.4 Mil)


Competition

ABC’s The Bachelor (2.4/6) was up +9% from last week, but through three weeks is off to the series’ worst start ever, down -18% from its comparable performance last year (2.3/6 vs. 2.8/7). Castle (2.3/6) was flat with its most recent telecast.

On CBS, How I Met Your Mother (4.4/11, up +13%), 2 Broke Girls (4.5/11, flat), Two & A Half Men (4.6/10, up +5%), Mike & Molly (3.8/9, flat), and Hawaii Five-0 (2.8/7, down -3%) were all in line with their most recent performances two weeks ago.

On NBC, Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl (2.7/7) and a special preview of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (2.6/6) aired from 8-10p. Rock Center with Brian Williams (1.3/3) closed out the night at 10p, up +86% from last week.
