Bill Austin dead at 55

After nearly 20 years as morning co-host on KESZ-FM Phoenix and 40 years in broadcasting, Bill Austin signed off and retired February 25th. Since then he has battled bladder cancer and died Wednesday, June 2nd at age 55.


Friday’s morning show on the Clear Channel station will be a tribute to Austin, anchored by long-time on air partner Beth McDonald. The station has posted a tribute page for listeners to share their memories of Bill Austin.

Before co-hosting the “Beth and Bill Morning Show,” Austin had been a weather forecaster on KPNX-TV Phoenix.
