Blizzard Boosts On-Demand Viewing

ComcastPeople along the East Coast watched a lot of on-demand television and movies as they waited for the blizzard to end.


On-demand viewing for Comcast was up 23% last week compared to the prior week, reports CNNMoney. Demand spiked to 1.3M users of Xfinity on Demand to watch television shows and movies at the same time — a record, according to Comcast.

On-demand viewing was 56% higher last week in Baltimore and Washington, where snowfall accumulation was between two to three feet.

Philadelphia and New Jersey viewing was up 50%.

New York City received some 27 inches of snow; Time Warner Cable analyzed New York City Internet use and told CNNMoney that was up 34% on Saturday compared to the prior week.

Netflix said it doesn’t share streaming information or data.
