Bloomberg Bumps Up Media Blitz With Spot Radio Surge

As RBR+TVBR first reported Friday, an expected surge in spending from the Mike Bloomberg for President campaign is something Cumulus Media CEO Mary Berner is looking forward to come March.

Townsquare Media‘s Albany, N.Y., cluster has also benefited from a big national spot buy from the aspiring Democratic presidential nominee.

It appears radio’s Bloomberg-powered big bucks are finally arriving, several weeks after the campaign’s Spot TV commitment.

According to Media Monitors, the Bloomberg campaign surged to the No. 2 position by play count in the latest Spot Ten Radio report, which detected advertising for reporting stations for the week ending February 23.

The Bloomberg campaign’s total spot plays for the week came in at 42,550.

That’s a big bump from the previous two weeks, and puts Bloomberg’s campaign ahead of national efforts for GEICO, Vicks and Indeed.com. Only Progressive is ahead of Bloomberg at radio.
