Bob Borngesser dead at 79

Former WHAG-TV (NBC) Hagerstown News Director and anchor Bob Borngesser has died at age 79. Before moving to the local station Borngesser, using the on-air name Bob Keene, was a correspondent for NBC News.


“He brought a high level of professionalism to the newscast when he was hired,” said weathercaster Lou Scally, who was hired at WHAG by Borngesser 31 years ago  “He had experience and depth — the complete package.”

Borngesser had retired from the station in 1997 after 18 years. He had battled cancer before his death this month. Funeral services were last weekend (12/17).
