WZMY-TV is changing hands. The station serves the Boston DMA from its city of license across the state line in Derry NH, and brings MyNetworkTV to the market on its primary signal, along with sports programming on a digital side channel.

According to broker Dick Foreman, who handled the deal, the seller is ShootingStar Broadcasting of New England LLC.

The buyer is Carlisle One Media Inc, headed Bill Binnie. Binnie has stated his intention to memorialize himself in the form of new call letters for the station: WBIN.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in or around May of 2011. Binnie says there will be programming changes at that time, including the addition of locally-produced material.

At the moment, in addition to MNT, the station is carrying NBC Olympic Sports on a digital side channel via Universal Sports.

Binnie noted that the station has access to 6M viewers in about 2.4M households. “Fox and NBC Sports are great partners and we are looking forward to working with them,” he said. “In addition, we are excited to be the exclusive provider of Universal Sports in the greater Boston market. We are committed to working hard to fully realize the unique potential of this station in the coming years.”
