WGBH Educational Foundation, which operates WGBH-TV and WGBH-FM, was the recipient of grant money from a trio of funding sources, but improper tracking of the use to which it was put has resulted in a payment to the US government.

According to reports, money came into the entity from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation.

But during the years 2005-2008, the Foundation’s accounting practices have been deemed inadequate, leaving it unable to explain how the money was used.

According to the Boston Herald, WGBH will pay $300,170 in a settlement.

Terms of the settlement will also install oversight procedures to make sure the problem is not repeated in the future.
