With the mini-DTV transition under our belts and the 6/12/09 hard DTV deadline fast approaching, a key House subcommittee will sit next week to assess the situation. The session is plugged into the schedule Thursday 3/26/09. “Oversight of the Digital Television Transition” will be the topic for the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet, presided over by Rick Boucher (D-VA) and Cliff Stearns (R-FL). Kick-off is 10:00 AM Eastern.

Meanwhile, Nielsen was able to report improvement across all categories of TV households since the beginning of the month. Total unreadiness is placed at only 3.6%; Ethnically speaking, Whites are least unprepared (2.9%), followed by Asians (4.4%), Hispanics (6.1%) and African Americans (6.6%). Only 2% of those over age 55 are unready, well ahead of the under 35 demo, of whom 6.5% remain among the procrastinators.
