As expected, the Senate Judiciary Committee sent the Patrick Leahy (D-VT) version of the Performance Rights Act on its way to the Senate floor, requiring only a voice vote to overcome objections chiefly stated by John Cornyn (R-TX).
RBR-TVBR observation: Amazing – Leahy praised the recording companies for their cooperation right after inserting an amendment into the bill which strongly implied that they cannot be trusted to fairly pass royalties on to artists.
