Brian Robillard tapped at Cartoon Network Studios

Robillard has been named vice president, content business operations for Cartoon Network Studios, it was announced by Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network. In this newly created role, Robillard is charged with creating strategy, business plans and operating process for emerging multi-platform projects, and he will serve as a key operations executive helping to drive Cartoon Network Studios multi-platform efforts. Robillard will be based in Burbank and report directly to Sorcher.


“We’re creating so many new types of content for a Play Generation,” said Sorcher. “Brian’s experience in managing information, communication and operations across complex arenas makes him a perfect choice to help set up these intrapreneurial content models.”

Robillard comes to Cartoon Network Studios from NBC Universal (NBCU), where he served as director of product strategy and development, content distribution. In this position, he acted as product manager for NBCU’s ‘TV Everywhere’ initiative, leading MVPD fulfillment with a large multi-business team focused on content/programming strategies, product development, ad and content operations, and broadcast engineering. His responsibilities included communicating timelines and strategies to all internal NBCU stakeholders across 13 networks and external operators, including nine top tier and more than 100 mid/small tier MSOs.

Prior to this, Robillard worked at the Disney ABC Television Group as senior manager, product strategy, kids networks from Oct. 2010 to Aug. 2012. There he developed product and content strategies around emerging platforms and technologies, with a special focus toward social media, mobile applications and emerging content platforms for child-targeted IP. His accomplishments include launching Disney Channel’s ‘TV Everywhere’ initiative, developing a patent-pending social media product for the Disney portfolio, and assisting with the strategy and development of the company’s first fully interactive animated episode for the iPad.
