British medicos want alcohol ad ban

Citing statistics showing one in four adults drinking too much and far too many children drinking to the point of drunkenness, a British medical society is demanding that all advertising of alcoholic beverages be banned and that a minimum charge be affixed to alcohol products to take it out of the affordability range of the underage. According to Telegraph Media Group, opponents say such a move would be create a “nanny state” and amounts to punishing the many for the sins of  a few.

RBR/TVBR observation: Is it only a matter of time before we get to this point in the USA? Advertising is already less free than other forms of speech here. There is no major move afoot right now, but it could happen.
