There’s Still Time To Help Broadcasters In Need

“We’re wrapping up a very successful 2017 for our all-important Guardian Fund … and you can still join us with a check marked 2017.”

That’s the good word from William O’Shaughnessy, Chairman of the Broadcasters Foundation of America Guardian Fund and owner of Whitney Global Media.

If a tax-free contribution is of interest to you, consider helping broadcast media colleagues and alumni in need with your generous donation to the Broadcasters Foundation.

In 2017 alone, the Broadcasters Foundation helped more radio and TV industry professionals and their families than ever before — awarding a record $1 million to 268 recipients.

This support can continue through the generous efforts of our industry brethren, including you.

The mission of the Broadcasters Foundation of America is to improve the quality of life and maintain the personal dignity of men and women in the radio and television broadcast profession who find themselves in acute financial need due to a critical illness, accident, advanced age or other serious misfortune.

It’s not been an easy 2017 for many. From wildfires in California to floods in Houston, and from hurricane damage in Florida to outright devastation and rebuilding in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Broadcasters Foundation was there.

Why the Broadcasters Foundation?

More than 65 years ago, a fellow broadcaster fell on hard times and was unable to receive his salary. In response, his broadcasting colleagues came together and chipped in to support him until he was back on his feet. That initial idea became the Broadcast Pioneers, which launched similar programs within cities across the country.

Today, as the Broadcasters Foundation, the organization has aided more than 1,000 broadcasters and their families across the U.S. through monthly and one-time emergency assistance distributions.

“We’re keeping our books open for a few days in the hope that industry professionals and leaders may want to weigh in with a last-minute and much appreciated contribution,” O’Shaughnessy says.
