Burglar hits SLC community station

Police in Salt Lake City are looking for a man who burglarized Utah Free Media, a local Internet radio station, over the weekend. The station is still operating and we know the burglar was a man because he gave the security camera a good, full-face view.

You can see the photos on the KSL-TV website. Police have asked for the public’s help in identifying the burglar.

According to KSL and the Salt Lake Tribune, the man stole $3,000 worth of equipment from Utah Free Media, including two microphones, a Mac computer and a mixing board. He also took $1,000 cash from an apartment rental business upstairs in the same building. Police said there were no signs of forced entry, so a door may have been left unlocked. Fortunately, the security camera was activated.

Utah Free Media, a volunteer-run community station, continues to broadcast, despite the loss of some of its equipment.
