Catholic media group IHR Educational Broadcasting is getting an AM station in the Monterey-Salinas CA market and an FM in the Las Cruces NM market – in both cases via donation. The FM is a DIY project.

In the Monterey transaction, IHR is getting KYAA-AM Soquel CA from People’s Radio Inc., headed by Joe C. Rosa.

The station is a Class B on 1200 kHz with 25 kW-D and 10 kW-N, DAN. It has full market coverage.
IHR already has an AM in the area, KNRY-AM Monterey Bay, a Class C on 1240 kHz with 1 kW-U, ND.

The station will be appraised so it can be claimed as a charitable donation by PRI.

In the Las Cruces area, IHR will be picking up KIHM-FM CP from Spirit & Truth Inc., headed by Dan Schneider. The donor simply wants to turn the station over to an experienced broadcast operation.

The CP is for a Class A on 91.5 MHz with 4.3 kW @ 289’.
