Canada goes for cable a la carte

Canada FlagContent watchdogs and John McCain (R-AZ) have been clamoring for a la carte MVPD program menus for years without result, but if they decide to move to Canada, they will be able to have it their way. But they may find a la carte burdened with some unintended results.

Canadian Interior Minister James Moore granted consumers the right to pick and choose cable channels, according to a Bloomberg BusinessWeek article. He said it was his belief that nobody should be forced to pay for bundled channels that they do not watch.
The repercussions are expected to be very noticeable.
