The Federal Election Commission posted financial results for April, and as has become the norm, Barack Obama (D-IL) led the way. His campaign told the FEC that it pulled in $31.923M during the month, and had $46.555M on hand as of 4/30/08. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) pulled in $26.912M and ended the month with $29.666M in the bank. Lagging behind in third place was John McCain (R-AZ) with $18.529M raised and $21.755 on hand. McCain was in last place in one area where being last is best: His debt load was only $968K, compared to $2.038M for Obama and $19.481M for Clinton, who has on occasion had to tap into her own private resources to keep her effort going forward.
