CBS, CNET to cover CES

CBS will provide expansive coverage of the upcoming 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 7-10.  With the support of CBS Television and CBS Radio stations, CNET (www.cnet.com) – the official online media partner of CES (http://ces.cnet.com) – will extend its reach beyond its tech enthusiast audience.  From the CNET Stage located at the South Hall 3 Lobby, the coverage will feature integrated cross-promotional appearances by CBS talent and CNET editors reporting on the hottest consumer technology products and trends.


 “This is the second year that CNET has teamed up with CBS to bring millions of people an in-depth look at the technology and consumer electronic products that will shape our future,” said Joe Gillespie, EVP/CBS Interactive.  “We’re excited to once again leverage the massive reach of CBS to deliver the most comprehensive coverage of the show, as well as unique insights and perspectives from our various experts.”

 

CNET will also provide exclusive live streaming of the show’s industry press conferences from leading manufacturers: LG Electronics, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony Electronics.  Video will be available at http://ces.cnet.com/liveatces.  The press conferences will be streamed live according to the following schedule (all times in PT):

Coverage will include:
Drew Carey on CNET LIVE — Drew Carey, host of THE PRICE IS RIGHT, will appear as a guest on CNET LIVE, a call-in show hosted by CNET Executive Editors Tom Merritt and Molly Wood.  Carey, a self-professed tech enthusiast, will tour the show floor with CNET editors and share his favorites at the show. 

CNET Editors on THE EARLY SHOW, CBS Television Stations and CBS RADIO – CNET Senior Editor Natali Del Conte will be reporting live from the CNET Stage on CBS News’ THE EARLY SHOW.  Also CNET editors will be providing reports from the show throughout each day for CNET, all CBS-owned TV stations and affiliates, and select CBS RADIO stations.  In addition, CBS corresponding websites will have special sections dedicated to the CBS-CNET coverage.

“Best of CES” Awards — Winners of the fifth annual “Best of CES” awards, which recognize the most innovative products that set the standard in the consumer electronics industry, plus Best in Show award and People’s Voice award, will be featured across many platforms.  The coverage will include:

•  30-Minute CES Special – Del Conte and Daniel Sieberg, Science and Technology Correspondent of CBS EVENING NEWS, will host a 30-minute special program covering the latest and most innovative technology news to come out of CES. The Special will air on local CBS-owned stations and affiliates following CES. A webcast of the Special will be scheduled in each market and featured on all of the websites of CBS Television and select CBS RADIO stations.

•  CBS Outdoor – Following the show in late January, a video recap of the “Best of CES” Awards will air on the CBS Outdoor digital board located near Times Square on 42nd Street in New York.
