CBS Exec Says Deal With Apple Likely

Les MoonvesSeveral reports have CBS discussions with Apple leading to a deal involving streamed television programming.

Apple has been rumored to be launching a video streaming service. The latest reports say that would occur next year.

CBS CEO Les Moonves told Bloomberg this week such a deal will “probably” occur.

“Apple is having conversations with everyone about doing their own streaming services. We have had those conversations, as have the other networks,” Moonves told Bloomberg. “Do I think something will happen? Probably, but I do not know when.”

The advent of “skinny bundles,” lower-cost video subscription alternatives, has added uncertainty to the market, according to Moonves.

CBS is having similar talks with other companies like Facebook and Netflix about the rights to stream television shows and live broadcasts, according to the broadcast executive.
