CBS execs welcomed Leno boost

There are certainly network executives who love “The Jay Leno Show.” They just don’t happen to be at NBC.

Speaking to entertainment reporters Saturday in Los Angeles, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler declared that this has been “a really great season for network TV” – although she appeared not to include NBC in that equation.

“Through it all you have to realize that ABC, Fox and CBS all fared very well during hti experimental phase for NBC,” Tassler said, referring to the Peacock Network airing Leno five nights a week in primetime. She called it an experiment “that obviously did not work” and declared that CBS will continue to focus on developing great shows.

Just last month CBS Corporation CEO Les Moonves thanked Leno for giving the CBS O&O stations a boost, noting how strong they had been in late news due to the lead-in from winning network programming in the 10-11 pm ET/PT hour.
