Normally this is not news, but since there has been concern on Wall Street that CBS Corporation may not be able to continue its dividend at current levels, we report that the company’s board of directors has ordered the dividend of 27 cents per share to be paid out on January 1, 2009 to shareholders of record on December 4, 2008. In related news, Sumner Redstone has again issued a statement that National Amusements Inc. (NAI), through which he controls both CBS Corp. and Viacom, has no intention of selling any more stock of either company – and that talks are “proceeding in a smooth and constructive manner” to refinance NAI’s debt.
