With the recent news out of Washington, DC and the uncertain future of the Big 3 automakers, CBS Radio Detroit began an on-air campaign Friday for all of Michigan and metro Detroiters to “Stand Up and Be Proud.”

At 10 a.m. Friday, AM 1270 WXYT began programming to salute the industrial backbone of Michigan – the auto industry. On-air messages of support from civic, community and business leaders will run on a continuous basis.  All CBS Radio  Detroit stations including WWJ-AM, WVMV-FM, WYCD-FM, WOMC-FM, WXYT-FM will join the salute with on-air throughout the day.

Said CBS Radio Detroit Market Manager Debbie Kenyon: “Detroit and the surrounding areas have so much to be proud of and thankful for. The CBS Detroit radio stations launched the Stand Up and Be Proud campaign to salute and recognize all of the positive achievements in our region.”

A $14 billion emergency aid package for U.S. automakers collapsed in the Senate Thursday night. The White House says it is considering using the Wall Street rescue fund to prevent U.S. automakers from failing.
