CBS WINS THE WEEK IN VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54. “The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards” is the Week’s No. 1 Program in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Awards Broadcast Delivers its Largest Audience and Best Demo Ratings Since 2004. Nielsen Estimates More Than 60 Million Viewers Watched All or Part of the Awards Broadcast.

CBS’s broadcast of THE 52ND ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS was the week’s No. 1 program in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, leading the Network to a first place finish in viewers and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Jan. 31, week 19 of the 2009-2010 television season.

THE 52ND GRAMMY AWARDS (S) (8:00-11:30PM) posted a 14.3/23 in households with 25.87m viewers, 10.6/24 in adults 25-54, 9.9/24 in adults 18-49 and 9.1/24 in adults 18-34
   
Compared to last year’s event (on February 8, 2009), CBS was up +28% in households (from 11.2/18), +36% in adults 25-54 (from 7.8/18), +34% in adults 18-49 (from 7.4/18), +32% in adults 18-34 (from 6.9/18) and added +6.82m viewers (from 19.05m, +36%).
 
This was THE GRAMMY AWARDS’ best delivery in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 since 2004.  Nielsen Media Research estimates that over 60 million viewers watched all or part of the broadcast.

For the week in viewers:  CBS (12.02m), FOX (9.71m), ABC (6.32m) and NBC (5.14m).  Season-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (11.80m), ahead of FOX (9.87m), ABC (8.83m) and NBC (7.61m). 

 For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and second in adults 18-49 (3.3/09).  Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.0/10, tie with FOX) and second in adults 18-49 (3.1/08). 

For the week in households:  CBS (7.3/12), FOX (5.6/09), ABC (4.1/07) and NBC (3.3/05).  In households season-to-date, CBS is first (7.3/12), ahead of FOX (5.8/09), ABC (5.5/09) and NBC (4.7/08). 
 
CBS’s Weekly Highlights:
 
NCIS was second in households (12.2/19), viewers (20.22m), adults 25-54 (5.7/14) and adults 18-49 (4.0/11).  This was NCIS’s closest competitive position ever with “American Idol” in viewers (vs. 24.45m) and adults 25-54 (vs. 10.1/24). 
  
NCIS: LOS ANGELES was first in households (10.3/16) and viewers (16.91m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (5.0/12, with NBC) and second in adults 18-49 (3.7/10).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 12, 2010), NCIS: LOS ANGELES was up +6% in households (from 9.7/15), +16% in adults 25-54 (from 4.3/09), +23% in adults 18-49 (from 3.0/07) and added +1.31m viewers (from 15.60m, +8%).  This was NCIS: LOS ANGELES’s best first-run lead-in retention levels in both adults 25-54 (88%) and adults 18-49 (93%) since November 24, 2009. 

— Friday, CBS was first in households (5.2/09), viewers (8.31m), adults 25-54 (2.7/07) and adults 18-49 (1.8/06).  CBS won every half-hour in adults 25-54 and five of six half-hours in viewers and adults 18-49.  CBS was first in households, viewers and adults 25-54 13 times in 19 Fridays this season and 11 times in 19 weeks in adults 18-49. 
 
GHOST WHISPERER was first in households (5.0/09), viewers (8.20m), adults 25-54 (2.8/08) and adults 18-49 (1.9/06).
 
MEDIUM was first in viewers (8.02m), adults 25-54 (2.7/07), adults 18-49 (1.8/06) and second in households (5.0/09). 
 
NUMB3RS was first in viewers (8.71m), adults 25-54 (2.7/07), adults 18-49 (1.8/05) and second in households (5.5/10, -0.1 behind ABC). 
 
 48 HOURS MYSTERY was first in households (4.8/09), viewers (7.23m), adults 25-54 (2.0/05) and adults 18-49 (1.5/05).  48 HOURS MYSTERY posted its best delivery in both households and viewers since November 21, 2009. 
 
— Sunday, CBS was first in households (12.9/20), viewers (23.08m), adults 25-54 (9.0/20), adults 18-49 (8.1/20) and adults 18-34 (7.3/20).  CBS posted its best deliveries in these measures since January 18, 2009 (AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (S)/THE MENTALIST SUNDAY SPECIAL (S)). 
 
— In the 8:00-11:00 PM Sunday time slot, CBS was first in these measures, beating the competition (NBC, ABC and FOX) combined in households (vs.11.1/17), viewers (vs. 18.12m), adults 25-54 (vs. 7.2/15), adults 18-49 (vs. 6.5/15) and adults 18-34 (vs. 5.8/15).    

60 MINUTES was first in households (7.7/12), viewers (12.33m), adults 25-54 (3.0/07) and second in adults 18-49 (2.2/06, -0.1 behind ABC).
