Cox Media Group announced that WAXN-TV (Ind.) Charlotte will launch a two-hour morning newscast this September. “Eyewitness News This Morning” will be produced by the news staff of co-owned WSOC-TV (ABC), with some additional staff to be added.

WAXN already carries a 10:00 pm local news produced by the WSOC newsroom.

“We are looking forward to expanding the Eyewitness News brand into the 7-9 am time period,” said VP/GM Joe Pomilla. WSOC currently airs “Eyewitness News Daybreak” for two hours each morning, 5-7 am, ahead of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
