According to Cox Media Group, its latest appointments “build on the great foundation of the Radio team while accelerating the company’s drive to entertain, serve and build its local communities.”

And, it will see it take a renewed focus on its six Country stations as its Director of Operations in Houston is appointed Country Format Leader.

Taking that added role is Johnny Chiang, who will partner with all six of CMG’s Country stations: WHKO-FM “K99.1” in Dayton-Springfield, Ohio; KWEN-FM 95.5 in Tulsa; WWKA-FM 92.3 in Orlando; KKBQ-FM “93Q” and Country Legends KTHT-FM 97.1 in Houston; and Classic Country KKYX-AM and KCYY-FM “Y100” in San Antonio.

Chiang is an acclaimed programmer, and has been named to Streamline Publishing-owned Radio Ink’s annual list of best country music program directors 11 times. Before a successful career in Country radio, Chiang was PD of Adult Contemporary KOST-FM in Los Angeles.

“CMG has some of the greatest brands, led by some of the best program directors in Country radio,” Chiang said. “I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to work even closer with this distinguished and already-successful group of talented programmers. I am deeply grateful to Tim Clarke and Steve Smith for their belief in me.

In an additional move, Christi Brooks has been promoted from Asst. Director of Branding/Programming to Director at Y100 as 93Q afternoon host Caitlin “CJ” Johnson adds Assistant Director of Branding/Programming duties.
