FOX Sports Southwest introduces an original program series this week that goes beyond the playing field to focus on the quality characteristics of athletes and those who helped shape and influence their careers. The Chick-fil-A Family of Champions Series premieres with a special Father’s Day episode on Sunday, June 20 at 10:00 PM CT titled “Two Fathers, Two Sons, One Game, A Story of Raising Champions.”

The one-hour program highlights the father-son relationships of quarterbacks Colt McCoy and Greg McElroy, who met in last season’s BCS National Championship Game.

Using Alabama’s victory over Texas in the 2010 title game as the backdrop, the program compares and contrasts the successful careers of McCoy at Texas and McElroy at Alabama. Their fathers, Brad McCoy and Greg McElroy, Sr., share stories of how they used football to bond with their sons and raise them to become champions on and off the field.

Both enjoyed stellar high school careers in Texas before meeting on the national stage in the BCS championship game.

McCoy was coached by his father at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, Texas where he was a two-time Class 2A MVP. He finished his career at the University of Texas as college football’s all-time winningest quarterback with 45 victories and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns.

McElroy, whose father is the Senior Vice President of sales for the Dallas Cowboys, led Southlake Carroll High School to the 5A championship in his first-year as a starter and was named the 5A MVP before guiding Alabama to last year’s undefeated season as a junior.

The series also will air on FOX Sports Houston, FOX Sports Oklahoma, FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Florida. It will be replayed several times throughout June.
