An AM-FM combo in SE Kentucky is going to a new owner, who has gotten a start in the unrated area via an LMA with radio icon Randy Michaels. The stations are WYWY-AM and WKKQ-FM in Barbourville KY, and they’re being sold by Mildred Engle’s Barbourville Community Broadcasting Company to Jonathan L. Smith’s Choice Radio Corporation. The $700K pricetag includes a $200K promissory note.
Smith’s Lincoln-Garrard Broadcasting Company operates two FMs in LMAs with Michaels’ Radioactive LLC: WPKB-FM in Crab Orchard KY and WKFC-FM in Corbin KY. The latter overlaps the Barbourville combo to form a one-AM, two-FM cluster.
