CC’s Hot AC WMVX FM 106.5 rang in the New Year with a new format and a new name. Adult Hits “The Lake” debuted at 7:30 a.m. 1/4 with the tagline, “We Play Anything.” Specifically, that means music from four decades, including Daughtry, Bryan Adams, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Van Halen, U2, INXS, Journey, Cyndi Lauper, Bee Gees, Kelly Clarkson, Nirvana, Prince. Listeners first heard “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” by Poison and “Love Fools” by the Cardigans. The format has a wider playlist of hit music in rock, alternative, pop, new wave and oldies.

WMVX stunted last week with a wide range of music, including polka. Tony Matteo is PD for The Lake. Check it out online at http://www.1065TheLake.com.

RBR-TVBR observation: The AC and Classic Hits genres are “Hot in Cleveland.” WMVX scored an 8.0 (tied for 2nd) in the latest December Arbitron numbers. Normally we can’t imagine anyone messing with a station that has that kind of a share, but lo and behold—Clear Channel’s WMJI-FM Classic Hits was #1 in December with an 8.4. The other second-place contender, CBS Radio’s AC WDOK-FM, is the obvious target.
