Coalition aids consumers with TV antenna tips

Broadcasters, retailers, manufacturers and the FCC have come together to assist consumers in getting the most out of the off-air television sets by showing them how to get the most out of their antenna, focusing on the indoor variety. The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Association for Maximum Service Television (MSTV) are among the groups.

The two page instructional sheet contains a wealth of practical advice on selecting and using the devices, and suggests conditions under which an outdoor antenna might be a better option.

Other participants include the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the Consumer Electronics Retailers Coalition (CERC), Audiovox, Antennas Direct, Channel Master, and Winegard.

The Tip Sheet and Advisory can be found at FCC’s www.dtv.gov, NAB’s www.dtvanswers.com and MSTV’s www.mstv.org, as well as at CEA and CERC sites.

MSTV’s David Donovan said, “We are delighted to have worked cooperatively with our government and private sector partners. Informing consumers about the proper use of indoor antennas constitutes an important step in ensuring the American public can enjoy all the benefits of free, over-the-air digital television.”
