Ryan Wallenberg, a 12-year veteran at Champaign, Ill.-based broadcast TV tech company Cobalt Digital, has been promoted from Director of Engineering to VP/Engineering.

Wallenberg will continue to oversee the engineering department and set the direction of Cobalt products, while adding management responsibilities for the company’s new compression division created as a result of Cobalt’s recent acquisition of ImmediaTV.

He will continue to report to Cobalt Digital president Gene Zimmerman.

Wallenberg joined Cobalt in 2007 as a product engineer involved in everything from low-level schematic and PCB design to firmware development.

Cobalt Digital designs and manufactures 12G/3G/HD/SD and IP-based conversion, terminal, throwdown, and multiviewer technology for the broadcast television environment. It is a founding partner in the openGear initiative.
