Friday (12/3) marked the one-year anniversary of the formal deal by General Electric to sell a majority stake in NBC Universal to Comcast. It was also the expiration date for the contract. To no one’s surprise, that has now been extended.

The agreement signed on December 3, 2009 anticipated the possibility that closing this mega-deal could take longer than 12 months. According to a Comcast filing with the SEC, the parties on Thursday (12/2) extended the terms of the master agreement for one of the three-year extension options provided for in the agreement.

The agreement to have Comcast acquire a 51% stake in NBC Universal is now set to expire on March 3, 2011.
