Comcast to eliminate 300 jobs

Bloomberg News reports Comcast said that, as part of a restructuring, it was cutting as many as 300 of the 20,000 jobs in its eastern division. Workers who deal directly with customers will not be affected, said Beth Bacha, a company spokeswoman. The cuts, which will take place in coming weeks, primarily involve managers, and Comcast will try to find new jobs for those whose positions are eliminated, she said. The division is consolidating its former sub-regions into four that better conform to the designated market areas commonly used by advertisers, Bacha said.
