Comment Deadlines Set For NPRM On Form 397 Erasure

On Feb. 22, the FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that proposes to eliminate the requirement that certain broadcast television and radio stations file the Broadcast Mid-Term Report, known as “Form 397.”

You now have the opportunity to voice your opinion on the matter.

The Commission set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 30 and 45
days, respectively, after publication of the NPRM in the Federal Register.

A summary of the NPRM was published in the Federal Register on March 21, but this inaccurately established a 60 and 90 day period for comments and reply comments, respectively.

On April 2, a correction was published in the Federal Register which adjusts the deadlines for filing comments and reply comments.

As such, comments must be submitted no later than April 30.

Reply comments must be submitted no later than May 15.

Commenters must follow the filing instructions provided in paragraph 15 of the
NPRM.

The NPRM is also available on the Commission’s website.
