Commerce accommodation

Henry Waxman (D-CA) is supplanting legendary Congressional bull John Dingell (D-MI) atop the House Energy and Commerce Committee, but has announced that he will actually share some power with Dingell. Will there be a noticeable effect on broadcasters? The short answer is no. Dingell will be taking the lead on health matters. Waxman’s main goal seems to be pushing forward with environmental issues, which is why he made the effort to topple Dingell in the first place.

RBR/TVBR observation: When it comes to communications issues, we suspect Waxman, Dingell, Telecommunications and Internet Subcommittee chair Ed Markey (D-MA) and Barack Obama will pretty much be on the same page.
