Children’s content watchdog Common Sense is about to hold its Sixth Annual Common Sense Media Awards and one of this year’s honorary foursome is a member of the home team – FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski is both an honoree and a founding member of group bestowing the honor.

The awards are being handed out at Washington DC’s Kennedy Center in a ceremony to be held Thursday 2/25/10.

Other honorees include filmmaker George Lucas, Harvard University’s Howard Gardner and Digital Youth Network’s Nichole Pinkard.

Genachowski is receiving The Newt Minow Public Policy Award for Outstanding Leadership on Behalf of Children and Families.

None of the awards are directly related to broadcast activities. Rather, the focus is on digital media.
