U.S. CongressTelevision and radio stations throughout America will soon have access to a total of more than 550 public service announcements filed by federal legislators and their families, addressing issues of importance to their constituents.

Stations are being urged to find time to run them as part of their commitment to serve the public interest.

According to NAB, 307 members of Congress (or relatives) participated in 2014, representing all but one state.

“This 30-year legacy campaign allows legislators and their family members to share positive messages with local communities,” said NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton. “NAB urges radio and television stations across America to air these PSAs as part of their committment to public service.”

NAB explained, “The PSAs will air on local stations in congressional districts or states through the end of 2015. A percentage of the spots are offered in Spanish. PSA topics included cancer prevention, cyberbullying prevention, distracted driving awareness, emergency preparedness, healthy kids, literacy, mental health awareness and support for returning troops.”
