Congress Takes First Step Toward TV Retrans Fee Reform


“Modernizing video laws so that they actually work for consumers” is the key goal of bipartisan legislation that will be drafted with the express intent of overhauling what they view are “outdated laws” governing the television marketplace.

In plain English, Congress is ready to tackle the ever-growing battle between MVPDs and broadcast and cable TV station owners over rapidly rising retransmission fee agreements.
