Congressional Support for Radio Still Growing

US CongressThree more members of the House of Representatives have added their names to the list of co-sponsors for the Local Radio Freedom Act, which is the antidote to the Fair Play Fair Pay Act.

LRFA opposes “any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge” on local broadcast radio stations.

FPFPA has the opposite thrust, and the growing support for LRFA is designed to head off FPFPA at the pass.

The total number of House members has now reached 203. 218 represents a majority in the 435-member body.

One of the new signers is not a voting member, but still is expressing the will of the citizens of US territory American Samoa. That would be Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen (AS-AL).

Also signing on are Reps. Brad Ashford (NE-2) and Alexander Mooney (WV-2).

A companion bill in the Senate has garnered 19 co-sponsors.
