Convention speeches draw heavy TV viewership

0

Nielsen has tallied up the audiences from both political conventions – and the numbers are big. In terms of total viewers, you could say that the vote was McCain, Obama, Palin and Biden. The Republicans slightly outdrew the Democrats, with an average of 34.5 million viewers per day over three days (one day having been dropped due to the Gulf Coast hurricane) vs. 30.2 million for the Democrats over four days.

Here are the day-by-day, demo-by-demo figures. Nielsen also provided a comparison at the bottom of each chart to the 2004 conventions.
