The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) today named Beth Jacobs as Vice President, Digital Strategies, effective March 25. Jacobs will work with CPB’s Chief Content and Innovation Officer Maja Mrkoci to accelerate cultural transformation, innovation and content creation throughout the public media system.
Jacobs brings with her more than 25 years of experience creating, developing and scaling profitable, new digital and mobile businesses in both early-stage companies and large media brands such as Cox, AOL The Weather Channel and the Washington Post. She most recently served as the senior director for personalization and distribution strategy and operations at Choice Hotels.
“Beth has an impressive track record of successfully transforming traditional businesses to digital-first, growth businesses by building new strategies and products as well as operational teams and practices,” said CPB Chief Operating Officer Michael Levy. “She is a great addition to CPB’s work with national organizations, local stations and independent content producers to develop and scale digital strategies to advance public media’s vital mission.”
Previously, Jacobs was Vice President of Product Management and Strategy at 3Pillar Global and the executive lead managing 3Pillar Labs, an innovation lab for emerging technologies. Other senior roles leading digital growth businesses include three years as the General Manager – Mobile at The Washington Post; six years at AOL as the Vice President – Mobile Business Development; and digital development and marketing roles at The Weather Channel, Cox Interactive Media and AT&T. Mobile Marketer named Jacobs a “Mobile Woman to Watch” in 2012.
Jacobs has an MBA in Marketing and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a B.A. in International Relations and Japanese and East Asian studies from Bucknell University. She has been active in several industry associations including the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and Women In Technology (WIT) as a mentor.
